273 Households (IDPs) Received Food Items Assistance in Jaji Maidan District, Khost Province

On November 5, 2024, the World Food Programme (WFP), in partnership with Tawhid Social & Development Organization (TSDO), successfully delivered Food Items (FI) assistance to 273 internally displaced households (IDPs) in Jaji Maidan District, Khost Province.
Overview of Distribution
The food items, transported by WFP from Kabul to TSDO’s warehouse in Jaji Maidan, included essential nutrition and staples tailored to meet the needs of vulnerable families. Skilled TSDO staff managed the site setup, coordinated ration sizes per household, and liaised with local departments to organize distribution timings effectively.
Food Items Distributed
Each household received the following items:
- Fortified Flour: 200 kg
- Iodized Salt: 2 kg
- Pulses: 25 kg
- Vegetable Oil: 18.2 kg
- High Energy Biscuits (HEB): 2.1 kg
- Lipid-based Nutrient Supplements (LNS): 3 kg (for 310 children under 5)
- Wheat Soy Blend (WSB): 6 kg (for 209 pregnant and lactating women)
Quality Assurance
To ensure the quality and safety of the food items, TSDO staff conducted quality checks and a baking test on the flour in a local bakery. The bread quality met all standards, confirmed by both TSDO and TPM staff, who reported high satisfaction with the test results.
Community Response
The distribution received positive feedback from district officials, community leaders, and CFAC members, who expressed gratitude to WFP and TSDO for their well-organized support. They extended thanks to both organizations for their continued assistance and requested additional support from UN agencies for families impacted by conflict and poverty in remote areas of Khost Province.
TSDO Hosts Panel Meeting in Balkh Province to Address NGO Challenges and Strengthen Coordination with Emirate Authorities

In a meeting held by TSDO at Balkh province, the problems of non-Emirate organizations collected in the previous meetings were shared face-to-face with the officials of Emirate through panel.
In this panel, besides, the representative of the Balkh province, representatives of various sectors (Directorate of Education, Director of Amr-e-Bil Maruf, the Deputy of Public Health, the Deputy of Directorate of Economy, Representative of Immigration department, Representative of Industry and Commerce, Representative of Information & Culture, Representatives of Agriculture and Tribal Affairs) participated.
The aim of the above panel was to address the issues and concerns of NGOs, and for the betterment of coordination and collaboration of sectorial departments, in which the NGOs shared their concerns and issues face-to-face with the related sectors.
First, the TSDO’s Balkh office Provincial Coordinator Mr. Jalal Sherzad and Finance Assistant welcomed the participants of the panel, then, Khalil-u-Rahman Rahmani delivered the opening speech, and presented comprehensive information about the mentioned panel. In addition to that, the representatives of the ACBAR talked on the obstacles and challenges that the NGOs are facing, and asked the Emirate Agencies for better coordination.
The representatives of the Emirate Agencies one by one talked on the important role that NGOs are playing, and assured the Non-Emirate Agencies of their cooperation and coordination, and asked the NGOs to design their project according to the needs of the society and coordination of related sectors. So that, during signing the MoU, your project and activities don’t face with delay or problems.
During this panel, the participants raised questions, they asked: when we are conducting the first survey assessment (baseline), we face several issues and challenges. The DFAs are not cooperating as is needed.
The participant appreciated this panel and thanked the TSDO’s representatives. They said, that this kind of meetings can help in improving relationship among Emirate and Non-Emirate Agencies.
At the end the conclusion of the pane was shared with participants. And the sectorial departments representatives asked that NGOs are welcomed to share their issues and concerns with us in our monthly meetings.
In this meeting they talked on the capacity building need of new and local NGOs. At the end, the Directorate of the Economy and TSDO jointly agreed that they will continue to work together in capacity building with these local NGOs.
Capacity Building Training for Retargeting!

TSDO successfully conducted a “Capacity Building Training for Winter Scale-up Retargeting” on September 18-19, 2024, in kabul. The training aimed to train 50 UCSS staff members, including survey officers, field monitors, and help desk staff, with essential skills for the upcoming winter re-targeting survey. Topics covered included digitalization of beneficiary assessments, core humanitarian principles, the new MoDa form, and SOP updates. Staff were also trained on anti-fraud policies, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), and data quality and protection measures.
This comprehensive training ensures that TSDO’s team is well-prepared to provide effective support during the winter scale-up phase, ensuring transparency, integrity, and efficiency in all aspects of program implementation. The feedback collected from participants will be used to refine future training sessions, enhancing the capacity and impact of TSDO’s humanitarian initiatives.
